Well, then how does one become a CAP?
In 2001, IAAP offered the CAP rating for
the first time to current CPS holders. In addition to passing the CPS
exam, there is an additional part of the examination that one must pass
in order to become a CAP.
Why earn the CPS or CAP rating?
Among the rewards for achieving the CPS
rating, many of the more than 54,000 CPS holders have reported:
- Pride in accomplishment
- Increased self-esteemGreater respect from employers and peersConfidence to assume greater responsibilitiesCollege credit toward a degreePay increasesBonuses

In today's workplace, having the CPS/CAP
credentials can be assurance of employability.
How are the CPS and CAP ratings
obtained?
The CPS rating is obtained by (a) completing
and verifying educational and employment experience requirements and (b)
passing a three-part, one-day examination. The CAP rating is obtained
by passing an additional component (one-half day examination). New applications
may sit for both the CPS and CAP examinations at the same time. Current
CPS holders need only sit for the CAP portion.
When is the exam given?
An internationalized version of the CPS/CAP
examination is given the first consecutive Friday & Saturday in May and November.
